Susan Kornetsky, MPH
Susan Kornetsky is the Director of Clinical Research Compliance at Children’s Hospital in Boston. Her responsibilities include directing an IRB administrative office, educating of principal investigators regarding IRB regulations, assisting investigators with protocol development and ethical issues, assuring institutional compliance with all federal and state regulations pertaining to human research, establishing appropriate policies and procedures and overseeing a quality improvement program for human research protections. Outside of work she has served a past member of the HHS Secretary’s Advisory Committee of Human Research Protection (SACHRP) and served as the co-chair for the pediatric committee of SACHRP. She is a also a Board member for Public Responsibility in Research and Medicine and a past President for the Applied Research Ethics National Association (ARENA). She was a member of the Institute of Medicine’s Committee on Clinical Research Involving Children. Her interests include the ethical issues pertaining to pediatric research, biobanking and differentiating research from innovative care. She teaches and lectures on many topics pertaining to IRBs and research ethics. Through the fellowship she hopes to expand her knowledge of ethical issues as they pertain to other areas of medicine.
