Jennifer Mello, MS, CCC-SLP
Jennifer Mello is a speech-language pathologist at Massachusetts General Hospital working with neurology, trauma and medically complex patient populations where issues including uncertain rehabilitation prognosis and artificial nutrition and hydration are routinely incorporated into defining goals of care. She is a member of the hospital’s Optimum Care Committee and assists senior staff in end of life ethics consultation process. Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and UMass-Amherst, first practicing in a neuro rehabilitation setting and then acute care, and has clinical expertise in both cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders. Jennifer aims to explore and develop educational materials for professionals and families of patients having devastating brain injury coupled with guidance for ethical decision making.
