Brian P. O’Sullivan, MD

Brian P. O’Sullivan is a pediatric pulmonologist and the Cystic Fibrosis Center Director at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. He has served as Chair of the UMass Medical School IRB for the past 10 years. Brian received his A.B. and M.D. degrees from Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Medical School, respectively. He co-chaired the pulmonary care guidelines committee for the national Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and has served on their Center Director’s Committee. His research has included the role of fatty acid dysmetabolism in CF pathogenesis and exploration of novel biomarkers to assess therapeutic interventions in CF. He has a special interest in translational research and the ethical dilemmas brought about by access and cost issues inherent with new therapies. He will be establishing a Bioethics Center at UMass Medical School over the course of this year.
